Community Service Series - Carpinteria Children's Project
Show your volunteer spirit and meet other like-minded alumni as we help with some needed clean-up of the pre-school at Canalino Elementary School on Saturday, Aug. 24, 9:00-11:30 a.m.
The Harvard Club of Santa Barbara (HCSB) continues its "Community Service Series", in which we organize volunteer opportunities for Harvard alumni. Our next event is a "Fall Clean-Up" at the pre-school at Canalino Elementary, on Saturday, August 24, 9:00-11:30 a.m. The pre-school is sponsored by the Carpinteria Children’s Project, a non-profit that assists low-income families with education and health needs.
To learn more about the Carpinteria Children's Project, please see their website: http://carpchildren.org/
During the clean-up, volunteers will assist the staff of the Children’s Project with light gardening and pre-school clean-up. Water and snacks will be provided. It would be helpful if you can bring some tools (if you have them). We'll email a tool list to attendees shortly before the event.
Canalino Elementary School is located at 1480 Linden Ave in Carpinteria. Parking is available in the school parking lot.
Please sign up with your name and e-mail address on the list to the right (no need to first login with your Harvard Key). Thank-you!

Meeting recap:
20 members and friends of the HCSB cleaned up the Canalino Pre-School in Carpinteria, which provides low cost pre-school to local families. We had great family turn out, and it was terrific to have kids help in the effort. Volunteers came from Goleta all the way to Camarillo. We got 2 play yards and the classroom ready for the first day of school. We trimmed plants, weeded, swept leaves, and washed toys, tables and the playground equipment. Teresa Alvarez of the Carpinteria Children's Project, which oversees the pre-school, told us about the work of their organization and was very grateful for all our help.
