Special Exhibition at SB Museum of Art
Join us for a docent-led tour of the exhibit "Botticelli,Titian & Beyond" at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, April 29, 2:00 p.m.
The Harvard Club of Santa Barbara (HCSB) has arranged a guided tour of the exhibit "Botticelli,Titian & Beyond" at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, 1130 State Street, on Wednesday, April 29, 2:00 p.m. This event is open to all Harvard alumni (plus one guest).
Our tour guide will be Christine Holland, a Docent at the Museum for ten years. The exhibit highlights some of the greatest masters of the Renaissance period, including Botticelli, Titian, Bellini, and Tintoretto, as well as masters of following centuries. The tour will take us on a romp through some 500 years of Italian art, and help us connect with the emotion and beauty of the works. More information about the exhibit can be found at the SB Museum's website.
We'll talk about the cultural reasons for the art, including why the radical changes of the Renaissance, and the interest in a human-centered life of this world, influenced art --- and in truth, affects our very lives to this day. There will be lots of drama, beautiful colors, and luscious use of oil paint.
We will meet at the Museum desk at the State Street entrance shortly before 2:00 p.m..
The tour is free, but entrance to the Museum is $10 (unless you're a member of Museum). The tour will last about 45 minutes. Afterward, we'll walk over to nearby Andersen's Bakery for happy hour.
Attendance for the tour is limited to 25, so please RSVP early to reserve a spot!
